KDP Lens — Privacy Policy

1. Overview

KDP Lens ("the Extension") is a free browser extension that helps Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing authors research book niches. This policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it is used, and your rights.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

KDP Lens does not collect, transmit, store on external servers, or share any of the following:

• Personal identification information (name, email, address)
• Financial or payment information
• Authentication credentials
• Browsing history beyond Amazon book pages
• Location data
• Any data sent to third-party servers

3. Data Processed Locally

The Extension reads the following data exclusively from Amazon pages you visit, processes it locally in your browser, and displays the results in the extension popup:

• Book titles, authors, prices, and ratings from Amazon product pages
• Best Seller Rank (BSR) from Amazon book pages
• Search result listings from Amazon book searches
• Keyword suggestions from Amazon's autocomplete service

This data is never transmitted to any server controlled by KDP Lens or any third party.

4. Local Storage

Your keyword search history and niche analysis results are saved locally on your device using the browser's chrome.storage.local API. This data:

• Never leaves your device
• Is not synced to any external server
• Can be cleared at any time by removing the extension or clearing extension data

5. Permissions Explained

• activeTab — to read BSR and product data from the Amazon page you are viewing
• storage — to save your search history locally on your device
• scripting — to extract book data from Amazon pages
• tabs — to open Amazon search pages in a background tab for keyword research, which is automatically closed after data is retrieved

6. Third-Party Services

KDP Lens interacts only with Amazon's public-facing website (amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, amazon.de, amazon.es) and Amazon's autocomplete API endpoint. No other third-party services receive any data.

7. Children's Privacy

KDP Lens is intended for use by adults and does not knowingly collect any data from children under the age of 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
